Workplace Violence


Workplace violence was essentially unheard of twenty years ago. That all changed in the 1990's when workplace violence became prolific and homicide in the workplace became one of the fastest growing forms of homicide.

Still today, the U.S. Department of Labor asserts that homicide is the most common form of death to women in the workplace.

The impact of violence in the workplace is profound and long lasting for the company with low productivity, absenteeism and employee turnover increasing dramatically soon after the incident. In addition, businesses can be negatively impacted by issues of liability after having been alerted to the possibility of such violence and fail to take steps to protect employees or with short or long-term disability if injuries are sustained during work.
