Preventing & Managing Domestic Violence in the Workplace

Train-the-Trainer Seminar


This seminar can be presented as an 8 or 16 hour seminar.  The focus on the seminar is to prepare participants to use the training curriculum to raise awareness within their own organization and reduce to potential for domestic violence entering the workplace and reduce an organization's liability.

Upon completion of the seminar, participant will receive the “Preventing and Managing Domestic Violence in the Workplace Train-the-Trainer Manual” with over 16 hours of lesson plans.

The following is the seminar itinerary:

 

MODULE ONE:  AWARENESS

·         Understanding Why Victims Stay

·         Psychology of Battering

·         Tactics of Batterers

 

MODULE TWO:  RISK ASSESSMENT

·         Assessing Lethality/Dangerousness

·         Assessing the Likelihood of Violence Coming to Work

·         Traits & Characteristics of Violent Offenders

 

MODULE THREE:  STALKING AND THE WORKPLACE

·         What is Stalking?

·         Risk to Victim and Workplace During Separation

·         Proactive Response to Reduce Potential for Violence

·         Specialized Safety Plan for Stalking

·         Preventative Measure Checklist

 

MODULE FOUR: UNDERSTANDING WORKPLACE VIOLENCE

·         Definition of Workplace Violence

·         Facts, Statistics and Case Examples (threat to job, threat to person, mental illness

·         Factors Contributing to Workplace Violence (downsizing, mergers, high stress)

·         Identifying the Potentially Violent Employee

 

MODULE FIVE:  ORGANIZATIONAL SAFETY/SECURITY ASSESSMENT (INTRODUCTION TO PROCESS)

·         Identifying Ways to Increase Organizational Safety/Security With No Budget (Small Group Exercise)

·         Assessment of Policies & Procedures

·         Training an Assessment Team

·         Mapping Safety/Security Assessment

·         Interviewing Employees

·         Interpreting Results and Making Recommendations
